Review
Set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Border 2 delivers a patriotic spectacle rooted in emotion and valor. The film opens with the OG Sunny Deol in top form and is undoubtedly the biggest highlight. His commanding screen presence, powerful dialogue delivery, and unmatched demeanour are truly outclass, just as fans expect.
Varun Dhawan proves the memes wrong yet again. Despite the negative PR, his portrayal of Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya is heartfelt and convincing, and he is sure to win audiences over. His past performances in films like Badlapur and October already prove his acting prowess, and Border 2 adds another feather to his cap.
Ahan Shetty, as Lt Cdr M.S. Rawat, is a delight to watch. Although his role feels slightly brief, his screen presence leaves a strong impression. Diljit Dosanjh, portraying Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, feels like a perfect casting choice and delivers an impactful performance.
The camaraderie between Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh stands out as one of the film’s strongest elements. Their bonding scenes are well written and emotionally engaging. The first half focuses on their journeys, complemented well by the female leads Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh, who perform effectively within their respective roles.
While the second half, which primarily focuses on the war sequences, feels slightly stretched in parts, the emotional payoff remains strong. The music is a major plus, adding charm and elevating the film’s patriotic spirit.
Overall, Border 2 is a pure family entertainer packed with emotion, patriotism, and strong performances, and is definitely worth a watch 🇮🇳🎬
